Permit me to give you these words

Permit me to give you these words of wisdom for this new week. It will also be a great blessing to you. Please read and meditate on them:

1. ON EARNING:
Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second chance.
2. ON SPENDING:
If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.
3. ON SAVINGS:
Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.
4. ON EXPECTATIONS:
Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.
5. WHEN bad things happen in your life you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.
6. OUR EYES are in the front because it is more important to look ahead than to look back.

Good morning

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAISES AND APPRECIATION By COMRADE JAMES SEGUN AWONIYI

TOPIC: THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAISES AND APPRECIATION By COMRADE JAMES SEGUN AWONIYI

Good morning friends, it’s a new day..before we start counting the problems we have..why don’t you take some minutes to count the blessings, the protection, the provision, the guidance, the unexpected miracles of God upon your life. Don’t forget that some peeps are praying and fasting just to be happy like you, looking fine and fresh like you, use good phone like you, have good health like you, be able to pay for DSTV,GOTV and data subscription like you do. And yet all you do everyday is to complain and no showing appreciation for the little you have because you feel you have got nothing compared to what bill gate, Dangote and co have. I pray you don’t loose it all before you know the value of the things you have now.
God is not requesting much from you. He wants you to show appreciation by praising him daily. He is not interested in your salad, snacks, holladia yoghurt, or your expensive drinks. All he needs from you is for you to praise him and serve him.
You can praise God anywhere, anytime, anyday just be free he is everywhere. Start today and see new things that will happen in your life.
Have a lovely weekend and don’nt forget to sing some sweet songs of praises to God today.

Father Shoots His Son During Argument On Whose English And Spanish Is Better

A father was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly shooting his own son for saying that he knows English and Spanish better than him, police in New Mexico said.
Espanola police said that they have arrested 51-year-old Robert Chavez on Friday, after being accused of shooting his son during an alcohol-fueled fight.
According to the police investigation, the argument began when the suspect’s 23-year-old son said that his English and Spanish is better.
After the discussion became heated, Chavez went to his room to get his gun. He then shot his son in the right shoulder. Chavez is also accused of throwing a cellphone at his son’s face.
The victim was taken to the Presbyterian Espanola Hospital, where he was treated for his injury and released. Chavez was arrested and charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

President Jonathan Rejects Amended 1999 Constitution

President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the amendments made to the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly, The PUNCH has learnt.
A top government official who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent on Tuesday that Jonathan vetoed the amendment on Monday.
The official said the decision of the President not to sign the document was because the amendment did not meet the provisions of Section 9 (3) of the 1999 Constitution.
The source explained that with the return of the document by the President, the letter accompanying it might be read on the floors of the two chambers of the National Assembly any time from Wednesday (today).
He said, “The President has vetoed the constitution amendment and he has sent it back to the National Assembly.
“The amendment did not meet the provision of Section 9 (3) of the constitution which talks about the need for four fifth of the National Assembly to agree with the amendment.”
Section 9 (3) of the Constitution reads:
“An Act of the National Assembly for the purpose of altering the provisions of this section, section 8 or Chapter IV of this Constitution shall not be passed by either House of the National Assembly unless the proposal is approved by the votes of not less than four-fifths majority of all the members of each House, and also approved by resolution of the House of Assembly of not less than two-third of all states.”
The rejected amended constitution granted approval for the separation of the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation from that of Minister/Commissioner of Justice

Just In--- Gombe Currently Under Boko Haram Attack

The insurgents, according to witnesses from Gombe, are currently being repelled by soldiers some three kilometres away from the town. A source from Gombe, Mallam Hassan, told PREMIUM TIMES on phone that “we’ve all rushed back to our homes now, our town is under attack; we heard that Boko Haram terrorists, in their hundreds, are trying to invade the town”. “Everywhere is quiet now, but the sounds of shooting and explosion is deafening. We hear the soldiers are battling to stop them”. The Boko Haram terrorist group has repeatedly attacked the town bombing bus stations and other locations. Saturday’s attack is coming less than two weeks after a suicide bomber struck in the city shortly after President Goodluck Jonathan campaigned. Mr. Jonathan was in Gombe for a rally that February 2, when a female suicide bomber struck shortly after the campaign train departed. The female suicide bomber and a passerby died in the attack, while six persons were injured, the police said at the time. It will be recalled that two weeks ago PDP presidential rally went sour as bomb was detonated in a tricycle station along Abubakar Habu Hashidu Road some 200 meters from the stadium in Gombe state.

Police Involvement In DaGrin's Death Uncovered By Sahara Reporter

The circumstances which led to the death of DaGrin in 2010 have now been revealed to be part of a disturbing pattern of illegal activity by police at Alakara Station in Mushin. The eyewitnesses, who said they were first to reach the scene of the road crash to assist, insist that Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun also known as "Dagrin" did not drunkenly crash into a truck parked at the side of the road as put out by police. Instead, the truck driver had been stopped in the middle of the road by Police who were demanding bribes. Unfortunately, the truck had no back lights and the late musician had plowed into it unknowingly. They said the policemen deliberately covered-up their role in the accident, by recreating an artificial accident scene by the side of the road for the world to see the next morning. A young witness, a man, agreed to speak with SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity. "I was there that night, and we did not even know at first that it was anyone (famous) like that. We were only helping to remove his body and to rescue him. What actually happened that night was that the policemen had stopped the cement truck at the middle of road, and of course, they could only be asking for a bribe. Unfortunately, the truck had no rear light, (of any kind,) and so the oncoming car was unaware of any vehicle ahead. It just rammed head on, into it from the back. It rammed into the truck hard without holding the brakes at all, and that is because the truck in its front, had no light to show anything was there." "So after we removed the body, we realized it was Da Grin, and he was groaning. They asked the truck driver to move forward and park out off of the road. They then moved Da Grin's car afterwards so it would then look like he went to hit the truck where it parked. "We were not thinking about all these as an attempt to change the story. We were only concerned about helping the victim of an accident, and by when they finished their artificial story, the world was only waiting for Da Grin's recovery. But news broke later that he had died at the hospital. "What made their story work was that the car did not hold its breaks, so there was no sign of screeching on the ground. Otherwise, the marks of friction from the tyres would be in the spot where it was removed, before parking it, and rearranging the scene. "They did everything very fast, and by morning, they were no longer the cause of the accident.) Just like on Tuesday night, that they scared everyone away, and washed the blood stains of their victim within a brief period," the young man continued. "Of course, they caused the accident that killed Da Grin. And that is how they commit so much atrocities here in Mushin that the public will not know about, or what the truth is. We live here and we see them live, every time. " Another killing allegedly by policemen at the Alakara Police Station occurred on Tuesday night of this week, further triggering their grief, and provoked them to expose that police atrocity, and approach SaharaReporters. That killing, as well, was covered up say the sources, in order that residents in the community, and people outside, would not know of it. The Alakara policemen are described as very apt, and swift, in immediately ‘cleaning up’ their dirty business, leaving behind little, to no evidence, of their atrocities, several sources have told a SaharaReporters correspondent. After Admitting He Had 250,000 Pairs Of Glasses, Elton John Goes Glass Shopping

He previously admitted he owns 250,000 pairs of glasses but for Sir Elton John that just isn't enough.

The 67-year-old singer/songwriter was spotted shopping at LA Eyeworks in Los Angeles where he tried on numerous colourful pairs before making his purchase.
Back in 2010, Elton told BBC Radio:' I don't have a iPod or a mobile phone or a computer. I do have a quarter of a million pairs of glasses but I don't even have a mobile phone! If people want to get hold of me they can.'

Elton and his glasses often hit the headlines and in 2013 he was forced to deny claims he had hired a separate hotel room in which to store his spectacles.

The star was on a four show tour of the South American country celebrating 40 years of his Rocket Man album.

And according to Brazil's Pampulha newspaper, the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road singer told gig organisers in Belo Horizonte, south east Brazil, to reserve an extra room for his glasses collection.

Lagos Blasts PDP For Hiring 100,000 People To Post Illegal GEJ Posters

Lagos Blasts PDP For Hiring 100,000 People For Dirty Campaign Jobs.
Lagos Orders Immediate Removal Of Illegal Jonathan Campaign Posters
The Lagos State Government has ordered the Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria (TAN) and its affiliates to immediately remove all President Goodluck Jonathan campaign materials illegally deployed on street lamp poles in Lagos.
The government said if TAN failed to heed the order, its enforcement team would remove the posters in line with the enabling law setting up the Lagos State and Advertising Agency, LASAA.
At a news conference in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Wednesday, Managing Director, LASAA, George
Noah, said the agency was constrained by recent developments in the electioneering campaign in Lagos to bring to the fore impunity and illegality that posed immeasurable and long term damage to those who erect, operate and maintain billboards in the state.
Noah said the agency had been informed that in the last 48 hours, two advertisers in the outdoor sector had terminated multi-million naira contracts with outdoor agencies registered by LASAA to operate in the state.
He stated that the contracts had been terminated as a result of the parallel and illegal deployment of Jonathan campaign materials on poles paid for by these advertisers.
“The two advertisers in question are Chinese Telecoms firm, Huawei and Globacom and the outdoor agencies affected are Touch Point Limited and Clearedge Limited. Both agencies have lost a whooping N350 million.
“The illegal and brazen act by agents of the PDP is unjust, inconsiderate and therefore unacceptable at a time outdoor advertising is facing stiff competition from television, radio and social media
“The illegal act by the agents of the PDP is capable of destroying outdoor agencies in our State. It will almost certainly leads to lay-off of workers and loss of revenue for our stakeholders,”he stated.
Noah added that in line with the agency’s statutory functions to regulate and control outdoor in Lagos,
“LASAA hereby directs the Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria and its affiliates to remove all campaign materials illegally deployed on street lamp poles in Lagos State immediately, failing which our enforcement team will remove same in line with the enabling law setting up LASAA.”
He also alleged that the PDP agents had been removing the advert materials of Glo on poles which the telecom company paid for, to replace them with Jonathan’s posters.
Noah further alleged that the PDP and TAN had deployed policemen wherever these impunities were taken place to give them cover and safeguard their illegal act, adding that the police authorities had withdrawn the policemen attached to the agency to assist it in enforcing illegality in the outdoor industry.
“What they have done is to withdraw the policemen attached to us. They are using the police to fester an illegal act. They are coming to Lagos to disrupt the outdoor business worth about N50 billion and employs about 100,000 people. They have transferred all sorts of people to Lagos state to do their dirty jobs. It is one illegality gone too far,”he said.

Aregbesola planning to disrupt tribunal sitting – Omisore

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has accused the Osun State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, of planning to use political thugs to prevent the Election Petitions Tribunal hearing matters arising from August 9 Osun governorship election from sitting on Friday (tomorrow).
Omisore’s media aide, Mr. Victor Oriola, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The panel has shifted the adoption of written addresses by the parties involved in the case from January 28 to Friday, January 23.
Omisore claimed that Aregbesola had concluded plans to use “state boys” to pose as members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria to prevent the parties in the suit from adopting their addresses on the adjourned date.
The statement read, “Series of meetings have been held in Osogbo by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress with the state standing army codenamed “state boys” to scuttle the process.
“The mode of operation is for the “state boys” to pose as JUSUN members and prevent the tribunal members and lawyers from gaining access to the court premises on Friday.
“This is one of the latest in the series of assaults on the judiciary by Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who has come to his wits end after his witnesses failed woefully to defend the case of massive rigging preferred against him after the August 9 gubernatorial election by Senator Iyiola Omisore.
“While we sympathise with JUSUN members for the delay in implementing the autonomy for the judiciary workers by the state governors across the country, which necessitated the strike action, we also want to appeal to JUSUN not to allow its members to be dragged into partisan politics.”
However, the governor on Wednesday debunked the allegation levelled against him Omisore.
Aregbesola, in a statement made available to our correspondent by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, described the alarm raised by the opposition as an attempt to divert attention from the crime they wanted to perpetrate.
He said, “We must view this as an alert to all security agencies to watch out for the PDP and its army of thugs who obviously must have concluded their plans to cause mayhem in the state. It is therefore pertinent for the security agents to be prepared to arrest anybody who causes any breach of the peace in the state under whatever guise.
“The first reasonable question that the PDP and its leaders must be asked is to produce any evidence of their imaginary plot by Aregbesola, aides or any of his associates.
“To all right-thinking people, is it logical for a sitting governor to cause mayhem in his territory where he has restored and maintained peace in the last four years and more in order to engender development?
“Nigerians know the PDP for what it is: a bunch of political rascals always calculating on the next issue it can manipulate to confuse and hoodwink the people. But it is gratifying to know that Nigerians are wiser than PDP’s antics and are therefore ready always to condemn their puerile allegations into the dustbins.”

Buhari liable for Katsina attack on Jonathan —PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is liable for Tuesday’s attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina. The PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation said it would hold Buhari responsible if anything should happen to Jonathan in the course of the electioneering while PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh said the party would no longer tolerate such acts of violence on any of its members Both Metuh, the publicity secretary of the PDP, and Femi Fani-Kayode, the director of media and publicity of the PDP campaign organisation, on Wednesday reacted to the Katsina incident. Fani-Kayode, at a press briefing in Abuja, said, “Let us take this opportunity to also serve them (APC) notice that if anything untoward happens to our candidate or his supporters during the course of this campaign we shall hold Buhari and his party responsible and the consequences would be grave, unimaginable and far-reaching.” Fani-Kayode alleged that a group of broom-wielding vandals, chanting “sai Buhari”, hurled stones at the convoy of the President and that but for the gallant efforts of the security personnel, “this small group of violent vandals would have harmed the President and caused damage to the vehicles in his convoy.” He said it was regrettable that the stoning occurred in Katsina, the home state of Buhari, and reminded Nigerians that the APC presidential candidate had visited Bayelsa State, where President Jonathan hails from and that while there, Buhari was not molested. He described the action of the APC supporters in Katsina State as “despicable, barbaric, shameful and highly reprehensible.” Metuh, in a statement in Abuja, said the attack was “a clear indication that the APC is not ready to dial back on its rabid desire to attain power through violence despite signing a peace pact a week ago in Abuja”. He said, “This brazen attack on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and our presidential candidate clearly showed that the APC was never committed to the spirit and letters of the Abuja peace accord which they signed in the presence of prominent Nigerians and international personalities. “It is unfortunate that while the PDP and other parties are busy ensuring that their members and supporters remain committed to a peaceful electioneering, the APC has been hatching plots to unleash violence on our candidates and members. “We invite Nigerians, friends of Nigeria and all lovers of democracy to rise in condemnation of this dangerous phenomenon. These early developments clearly demonstrate that the comments and declarations by the leaders of the APC that Nigeria would be thrown into chaos and bloodshed should it lose the February general elections were real.” Metuh commended the maturity and the peaceful disposition of President Jonathan and the leaders of the PDP even in the face of provocation. He said, “The irony which we wish to place on record is that the APC, which has successfully completed its campaigns in the South-South, including Bayelsa, the home state of President Jonathan, without any incident and has even signed a pact to maintain peace, is turning round to unleash thugs to disrupt the presidential campaign of our party. “In spite of this, we wish to assure Nigerians of the iron cast resolve of the PDP to ensure peaceful and credible general elections where the votes of the people shall exclusively determine who emerge as leaders in the general elections” Meanwhile, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, has said his group would respond appropriately to the attack on Jonathan’s convoy in Katsina State. Dokubo-Asari, in Abuja on Wednesday, said members of his group were putting the world on notice because the Katsina youths chose to attack the President’s convoy as he was leaving a campaign venue. He said, “There is an established pattern of pre- and post-election violence in the north. In the 50s when late (Chief Obafemi) Awolowo was campaigning in the north, he went with helicopters and he was mocked. “People said he was flying over the houses and peeping on their wives. That has continued and everywhere in the country, people say leave them alone. We don’t want any trouble. But I think the game has changed. The rules of the game have changed. “For every action, there will be an opposite and equal reaction. I knew that the signing of the accord was useless and that the President subjected himself to sign such an accord. For me, it was out of place for a President and Commander- in- Chief of the armed forces of a country. But the President is a humble person. He does things that even marvel some of us and make us sometimes to be very angry.” SOURCE - See more at: http://www.naijaolofofo.com/buhari-liable-katsina-attack-jonathan-pdp/#sthash.Xi5Il5jh.dpuf

How We Steal Cars In Lagos, Sell in Cotonou - Suspects Opens Up

Four suspected car snatchers, who are now in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command, have explained how they snatched expensive vehicles in different areas of the state and sold them to buyers in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

The suspects are Raoul Dedavi, Bright Ekeocha, Aziza Akobu and Adebayo Peter.
According to the police, Dedavi, a Beninoise car dealer who is based in Cotonou, is one of the the alleged receivers of the vehicles stolen by the gang.

Our correspondent learnt that information had reached the Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti, about the gang’s activities, and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad Commander, SP Abba Kyari, was directed to apprehend the gang members.

Punch Metro gathered that the suspects, except Dedavi, were arrested on January 5 at about 5pm in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos.

The suspects were said to have confessed that they delivered the stolen vehicles to Dedavi in Cotonou, who allegedly sold them and shared the money.

A few days later, the SARS reportedly apprehended Dedavi from his hideout in Cotonou, and also recovered a stolen Toyota Venza at the scene.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the 45-year-old Benin national explained the gang’s mode of operation.

Dedavi added that he had worked with different gangs to steal cars in Lagos, and sell them in Cotonou since 2012.

He said, “I work as a car dealer in Cotonou where I also live. I did not start selling stolen vehicles, but in 2012, I met some Lagos-based robbers who began to bring stolen vehicles across the border for me to sell.

“The deal is that they steal and bring the vehicles, while I sell and give them their share. I don’t sell such vehicles to Nigerians. I sell them to other West African countries. In 2013, I got six stolen vehicles from Lagos. In 2014, I got three. It was Peter (Adebayo) that I knew first among this gang. He came to buy second-hand clothes in my place.

“He told me the gang had a stolen Toyota Venza to sell and they brought it. I gave them N1.5m. my plan was to sell it for N2m or more. I did not know that the police were on the trail of that car. They spent about five days in my area, monitoring me before they were able to arrest me. I went into all this because of greed. I am very repentant now.”

Ekeocha, 25, from Owerri North, Imo State, said he disguised as a buyer while Akobu disguised as a technician during which they stole the Toyota Venza from their victim.

He said, “Apart from Dedavi, there are other receivers of stolen vehicles which our gang used. When we stole one Lexus jeep and sold it, I made about N200,000. I pretended to be a buyer while Aziza (Akobu) pretended to be a technician and I went to our victim’s sales office because he was a car dealer too.

“When he brought out the vehicle for us to test-drive, we fled with it. The vehicle was stolen on December 18, 2014, and it was with us till December 29 when we then took it Alhaji Cotonou (Dedavi).”

Akobu, 23, from Orlu, Imo State and 38-year-old Peter from Modakeke, Osun State, added that they were expecting N300,000 each as their share before the police rounded them up.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest, adding that investigation continued on the matter at the SARS.

He said, “The owner of the Toyota Venza is one Thomas Nwaonicha, who is a car dealer at Kilometer 52, Lagos-Ibadan Expresssway. He initially reported the matter at the Area H Command, Ogudu.

“The police were able to locate the suspects, who have also confessed to the crime. The case is under investigation at the SARS, Ikeja.”

She warned women against laziness during s*xual intercourse, and encouraged wives of pastors to
'regularly learn and equip themselves with new skills which will enable them to serve their husbands better in bed.'
Ackon emphasized on the need for sex to be seen as essential and not viewed as a taboo topic in churches since it is vital to the survival of all marriages.

Road To 2015: Thugs Stones Goodluck Jonathan's Convoy On Yar'adua Visit Mother In Katsina

President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy was on Tuesday, January 20, attacked by political thugs in Katsina State.

Jonathan visited the state, along with his entourage, as part of a tour for his re-election campaign.
The trouble was said to have started when the President’s convoy made its way to the home of former President Umaru Yar’adua’s mother for a courtesy visit.

The attackers were reportedly holding brooms, a symbol of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), and were chanting “Sai Buhari”, showing their support for the APC Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari who is from Katsina.

The youths launched an assault on Jonathan’s convoy after the visit and pelted the cars with stones but were dispersed with tear gas by security operatives.

Another group of anti-Jonathan youth were also said to have demolished a newly erected campaign billboard of the President in the state

Press Statement By Buhari On The School Certificate Scandal

Press Statement by General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on the School Certificate Issue
Good Morning , Gentlemen of the Press.
I only consented to address you this morning because of the genuine concern expressed by many supporters and other well-meaning Nigerians that the issue be addressed. Otherwise, I would have dismissed it for what it is—sheer mischief and would not have considered it an issue worth the nation’s while.
I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available, there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file. This is why I formally requested my old school the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina [which is now known as Government College, Katsina] to make available the school’s copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School Certificate. This will be made available to the press the moment this is available.
However, before we obtain that, let me say for the record that I attended Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. I graduated in 1961 with many prominent Nigerians, including General Shehu Yar’adua, former chief of staff at the Supreme Headquarters, and Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a former President of the Court of Appeal. We sat for the University of Cambridge/WASC Examination together in 1961, the year we graduated. My examination number was 8280002, and I passed the examination in the Second Division.
And although the ruling party may want to wish this away, the issue in this campaign cannot be my certificate which I obtained 53 years ago. The issues are the scandalous level of unemployment of millions of our young people, the state of insecurity, the pervasive official corruption which has impoverished our people and the lack of concern of the government for anything other than the retention of power at all costs.
Thank you very much.
General Muhammadu Buhari

Judiciary workers’ strike: FG/states/JUSUN meeting deadlocked

The joint meeting for negotiations between the Federal Government, Chief Registrars of states’ judiciary and the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Tuesday ended unresolved. The meeting was held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in Abuja, with all stakeholders present to deliberate and find the way forward. The SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim, in his opening remarks had said the meeting was called to have a better understanding of the issue at hand. He said the meeting was also to take necessary steps in finding solutions. “FG is ready to comply with the judgment of the court, in line with the Constitution,’’ Anyim said, adding that the Federal Government was committed to the autonomy of the judiciary for the system to work. He said however that the Federal Government could only help to ensure that state governments complied with the payment based on the availability of resources. “The Federal Government, as a government, is committed to the autonomy of the judiciary. “But we need to work together to bring a perfect working solution for everybody, because we do not want this strike to continue for too long. “It will not be good if all the 36 states’ Chief Registrars come here and they won’t be to have a workable solution. “I want to appeal to you not to go back without finding a solution. “This matter has dragged and we want everybody to come to an agreement for the interest of the system and I want your presence here (in Abuja) to make a difference,” Anyim said. Reports however prove that the meeting had on Monday ended with all eyes on the Chief Registrars. This was on the basis of the Chief Registrars confirming if any state had complied with the court order, which will be the basis for the strike to be called off. During the meeting with the Registrars, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Ahmed Saleh, who spoke on behalf of others from the states, confirmed non-implementation by the states. “I want to say on behalf of my colleagues, that both the state and federal government have not complied with the court judgment.” The Attorney-General of Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, who spoke on behalf of the Attorney-Generals of the states, said they agreed that a mistake had been made in this regard. He however pleaded that the next move should about finding a way forward. “As a body of Attorney-Generals, we met several times, and at each of these meetings we have discussed and took a position. “This position is that we are all committed in our own way to ensure that every gap in areas of full implementation will be corrected. “We want to assure that we are all working on the same goal, but we want to plead with you (JUSUN) to give us an opportunity to close all the gaps. “Let us find a lasting solution to this problem. If we can be given about two months to get everything done and the strike is called off, it will be good,” Jegede said. The National President of JUSUN, Mr. Marwan Adamu, said the agreement for the meeting was to ascertain if some states had complied or not. He however pointed out that if no state had complied with the court judgment there was nothing to be done. Adamu said the only way forward was for the states and Federal Government to obey the court judgment. He however said another meeting could be held on Tuesday to see how this compliance could be speedily achieved. On his part, the President of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Augusustine Alegeh, pleaded for the matter to be resolved earnestly. He said the NBA could not take a decision for the Federal Government or the state governments, but could only advise. “I plead that the issue of compliance should be resolved tomorrow (Wednesday) at all cost so that the strike can be called off,’’ Alegeh said. Newsmen reported that the meeting was later rescheduled for Wednesday at the Supreme Court.
